effects of retinoic acid on tibia osteogenesis in chick embryo
Authors
abstract
introduction: the objective of this study was to evaluated effect of retinoic acid (ra) on the tibia osteogenesis in the chick embryos. materials and methods: for this purpose 0.75mg ra dissolved in 2ml dimthylsulfoxide (dmso) was droped on the limb bud of chick embryos at sixth day of incubation. the osteogenesis of tibia in ra-treated embryos were compared with normal control and dmso-treated groups (in the same stage) in days 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13 by microscopic and statical analysis. the tibia in all groups were cut, fixed, decalcified, processed in paraffin, serially sectioned and stain with hematoxyline and eosin. the volumes of bone formation, cartilage, connective 8 vascular tissue and the volume of the whole of tibia were calculated. results: retinoic acid has resulted in an increase in mortality rat and a decreased in the body weigh of the chick embryo. in addition to that, ra has resulted in the reduction of osteogenesis, connective and vascular tissue morphogenesis and resorption of the cartilage and consequently the volume of tibia has reduced. conclusion: retinoic acid can retartd tibia osteogenesis in chick embryos.

Effect of retinoic acid on neural tube development in chick embryo
retinoic acid is one of the derivatives of vitamin A.it is used for treatment of dermatitis, but it has different teratogenic effects on developing organs depending on the different stages of embryonic life.neural tube is made of two different parts:primary neural tube originated from embryo germinal layer and and secondary neural tube originated from tail bud.the persent study was designed to ...
full textThe effects of retinoic acid on heart formation in the early chick embryo.
The vitamin A derivative retinoic acid has previously been shown to have teratogenic effects on heart development in mammalian embryos. The craniomedial migration of the precardiac mesoderm during the early stages of heart formation is thought to depend on a gradient of extracellular fibronectin associated with the underlying endoderm. Here, the effects of retinoic acid on migration of the prec...
full textThe distribution of endogenous retinoic acid in the chick embryo: implications for developmental mechanisms.
The aim of these experiments was to determine the endogenous distribution of retinoic acid (RA) across a wide range of embryonic stages in the chick embryo. By high pressure liquid chromatography, it was revealed that didehydroRA is the most prevalent retinoic acid in the chick embryo and that the tissues of the stage 24 embryo differed widely in their total RA content (didehydroRA + all-trans-...

ABSTRACT: Retinoic acid "one of the derivatives of vitamin A "has different morphogenic and teratogenic effects on developing organs. For this reason, the present study is an attempt to examine the effects of retinoic acid on limb bud ,eye and body axis of chick embryo in the stages of 11-12 Humburger and Hamilton. The experiments cartied out in this study was based on 140 white eggs which h...
